Cox 11 To Broadcast 2010 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament’s Final Game

Cox Communications has announced that Cox 11 will deliver the final game of Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) from April 7 to 10 from Churchland High School in Portsmouth.

The championship game will begin on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m and will be available on Cox 11. The broadcast schedule of 2010 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament’s Final Game on Cox 11 will be as follows:

Wednesday, April 14, 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 17, 12 p.m.
Wednesday, April 21, 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 25, 7 p.m.

Cox Completed 4G Wireless Technology Trials in Phoenix and San Diego

Cox Communications announced that it has completed fourth generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology trials in Phoenix and San Diego. Cox has completed voice calling and high definition video streaming over wireless networks.

Cox chose Phoenix and San Diego and conducted 4G trials with advanced technology-orientation of its residential and business customers.

Stephen Bye, Cox’s vice president of wireless, said “On the heels of announcing our initial 3G wireless service deployments, today’s news demonstrates our equal commitment to 4G services. Through the LTE trials, we are utilizing the AWS and 700 MHz spectrum to test voice, data and video applications and services and ultimately readying to
deploy 4G wireless broadband services to meet the needs of our customers.”

“We are encouraged by the success of the Phoenix and San Diego tests, which further validate our decision to pursue 4G based on LTE, specifically the 3GPP Release 8 standard” added Bye.

Cox Sports To Offer Providence College Basketball Game On ESPN360.com To New England Subscribers

Cox Communications has announced that it has obtained exclusive broadcast rights of the Providence College men’s basketball game against Northeastern to be played on Tuesday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Cox Sports will present the game on Cox Channel 3 to New England subscribers and also on ESPN’s 24/7 broadband sports network ESPN360.com.

Cox is the first provider to obtain exclusive college basketball rights from ESPN360.com to deliver online coverage to Cox high-speed internet subscribers.

ESPN360.com will also present exclusive halftime content from Big East Media Day.

David Preschlack, executive vice president, Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, said: “ESPN360.com gives Cox customers a way to see thousands of live sporting events every year. Cox Communications Launches MyPrimetime On DEMAND in Las Vegas And San Diego

Cox has launched MyPrimetime On DEMAND to its digital cable subscribers in Las Vegas and San Diego markets. Cox MyPrimetime On DEMAND will allow subscribers to access popular shows from ABC, NBC, Cartoon Network, FX, TBS, AMC, USA Network, Travel Channel, TNT, A&E and more.

Cox Digital Cable customers in Las Vegas and San Diego will have option to view episodes of top primetime series at anytime, free of charge starting the day after they air on the network.

Cox MyPrimetime On DEMAND is now available to Orange County, Calif.; New England; Kansas/Arkansas; Arizona; Macon, Ga.; Roanoke, Va.; Tulsa, Okla.; Omaha, Neb.; Santa Barbara, Calif.; Hampton Roads, Va. and Greater Louisiana subscribers.
Cox is planning to add more networks to MyPrimetime On DEMAND to offer even more hit shows in MyPrimetime with the beginning of the fall television season.

Cox Partners With Cisco To Deliver Ultimate Internet in Rhode Island

Cisco Systems has partnered with Cox Communications to deploy the Cox DOCSIS 3.0-based “Ultimate Internet” service in Rhode Island. The high-speed internet with up to 50 megabits per second downstream offers Cox residential subscribers faster online access for music and movie downloads, file transfers, video streaming, interactive live-action gaming and other high-demand services.

Cox Communications with more than 6 million residential and commercial customers uses the Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 solution portfolio that includes the Cisco uBR10012 Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) and Cisco DPC3000 cable modems to deliver the high-speed internet. The end-to-end Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 product portfolio includes backward-compatible Cisco channel-bonded cable modems downstream bandwidth to existing DOCSIS 1.x/2.0 subs at a substantially reduced cost per bit.

Faith & Family Entertainment has announced the launch of Christian-themed movies on Cox Communications On Demand. This new service will deliver Cox On Demand subscribers with 20 family-friendly faith-based movies every month. Cox Communications Digital Cable customers can access this service when they subscribe the pack by selecting “Faith and Family Movies” category from the On DEMAND menu.

Faith & Family Entertainment produced original films to premiere on “Faith & Family Movies” will be based on stories of faith, love, hope, redemption and family.

Stephen Bye, Vice President of Wireless has announced the appointment of Scott Knaub to Executive Director of Wireless Business Operations for Cox Communications. Knaub will oversee the financial operations, business case analysis, roaming negotiations and roaming infrastructure development.

Knaub started as a Director of Business Operations in the cox’s corporate office in 2000 and was promoted as Vice President of Business Operations for Cox’s New England System.

Cox Communications has appointed Raj Beri as Vice President of Wireless Product Operations. Stephen Bye, Vice President of Wireless has announced the appointment and stated that Beri will be responsible for the long term operational processes for Cox’s upcoming wireless product, including the overall direction, management and coordination of the launch and deployment of Cox wireless products and services.

Raj Beri will oversee product architecture, development, and support processes. He will also manage relationships and alliances with industry partners, key industry organizations and suppliers.

Beri served as Head of North American Services for Nokia Siemens Networks before joining Cox. He also served as Vice President, Northeast Region for AT&T Wireless and spent ten years in various positions at AT&T Wireless.
