WRCB Goes HD in Chattanooga

NBC affiliate based in Chattanooga, WRCB has started broadcasting programs and commercials in high-definition. WRCB is the first local channel in Chattanooga to broadcast programming in HD.

Dish Network has been expanding its local high-definition channels in many markets and has delivered in 20 markets in recent times.
The satcaster has announced its plan to launch new local HD markets in March. Following are the markets where Dish Network is expected to add local HD networks in March:

Time Warner Cable To Broadcast WBNG-TV in HD in Binghamton

Time Warner Cable has announced that it will launch high-definition simulcast of CBS affiliate – WBNG-TV in Binghamton, New York on Dec.23. Time Warner offers more than 60 HD channels in this area but the local channel has not been added in high-definition for long time. TWC subscribers in Binghamton were eager to watch WBNG-TV in HD and raised their voices several times and cable operator has finally heard these and coming with the HD broadcast.

DirecTV Launches Local HD channels the Traverse City-Cadillac, Mich

DirecTV is moving towards its target of adding local high-definition channels in as many as 121 cities before the year end. DirecTV has made an announcement that it has added local HD broadcast channels in the Traverse City-Cadillac, Mich area. With this addition, the satcaster is now offering local HD broadcast in 109 cities, representing more than 86 percent of U.S. TV households.

DirecTV subscribers in Traverse City, Cadillac area will now receive:

WGTU/ABC

WPBN/NBC and

WFQX/FOX

Subscribers need to have an H20 or H21 HD receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish to receive these local HD broadcast channels.

Time Warner Cable Adding 11 New High-Definition Channels in Greensboro, NC

Time Warner Cable has announced that they will add eleven new high-definition channels in Greensboro, North Carolina. Following are the new HD channels to be launched in Greensboro starting October 29.

DirecTV Local HD Programming Available In 100 Markets

DirecTV has launched local HD programming to customers in 100 markets with the help of new satellite DIRECTV 11. Starting August, DirecTV started delivering local HD channels in many markets and now with the launch of local HD programming in the Columbia-Jefferson City, Mo., and Evansville, Ind markets. With the launch in these two markets, DirecTV now offers to local HD broadcast channels to more than 83 percent of U.S. TV households. DirecTV announced that the satcaster will end up the year with HD broadcast in more than 121 cities, representing approximately 88 percent of U.S. TV households.

DirecTV has disappointed their subscribers as they have not added any new HD channels for some time and delivering only local HD channels in many markets. Customers expected many new HD channels from DirecTV like AMC HD, Fox News HD The Travel Channel HD and WGN HD. Now, DirecTV has reached 100 local HD and what next? Its time to deliver many new HD channels, which other operators are delivering.

Insight Communications To Launch 56 HD Channels in Lexington, Kentucky

Insight Communications will launch 56 new high-definition channels in Lexington, Kentucky area, starting from first week of December. Insight with 1,370,000 subscribers in the states of Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio said that the entire new HD channel to be launched will be free and no extra price will be charged. Time Warner Cable subscribers in Buffalo are flooded with new high-definition channels. The second largest cable operator in the country has added four more new high-definition channels on Oct.2. Time Warner has delivered 25 new HD channels in Buffalo, since August 28. Following are the new HD channels added:
