Comcast Corporation Signs Agreement With NBC Universal To Offer 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in HD

Comcast Corporation has reached an agreement with NBC Universal (NBCU) to deliver its customers with NBCU’s unprecedented coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Comcast is planning for providing the action and drama of this year’s Olympic Games over the company’s advanced fiber optic network. The agreement with NBCU will allow Comcast to deliver thousands of hours of NBCU’s wide-ranging coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Comcast to use NBCU’s multiple broadcast and cable networks and deliver High-definition, Video On Demand, along with 2,200 hours of broadband content available on NBCOlympics.com via a link from Comcast’s website.

Comcast to offer more than 1,200 total hours of Olympics coverage on seven NBCU networks – NBC, USA Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Oxygen, Telemundo and Universal HD and also HD coverage of more than 700 hours on networks including NBC HD, Universal HD, and USA HD.

Comcast’s On Demand coverage includes special clips, focused on the emotion and excitement of the Games, with 60 programs including “Beijing 411,” “Meet the Athletes” and “Team USA Preview,” are available now. Once the Games begin, viewers will have instant access to catch up with daily highlights, events and more. Like more than 90 percent of Comcast’s On Demand offerings, all Olympics programming is available at no additional charge for Comcast Digital Cable customers.

Website of NBC’s 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will deliver the Opening Ceremony. The site is rich in content and previews and, during the Games, will deliver 2,200 hours of 25 events streamed live, plus full-event video replays, extensive highlights, including daily re-caps of key events, best-of montages, commentator analysis and athlete-specific clips each day.
