DirecTV has announced the launch of local high-definition programming to subscribers in the Springfield-Holyoke, Massachusetts area. The satcaster now offers local HD broadcast channels in 98 cities, representing more than 83 percent of U.S. TV households. Following are the new HD broadcast networks available in Springfield and Holyoke:
WGGB/ABC
WSHM/CBS and
WWLP/NBC
DirecTV is planning to deliver local HD broadcast channels in more than 121 cities by the year end, which represents about 88 percent of U.S. TV households. DirecTV subscribers require H20 or H21 HD receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish to receive DIRECTV’s local
HD programming.
