KIAH Houston affiliate of Tribune CW has announced that a new 24-hour sports network will be launched on its digital broadcast platform. The new sports network ‘The Universal Sports Television‘ is a joint venture of NBC Sports and Intermedia Partner will be launched on Monday, March 16, on digital ch. 39.2. Universal Sports will provide more than 40 sports covering major championships and Olympic qualifying events beamed on Universal Sports range from track and field, swimming, skiing, gymnastics and cycling, to volleyball, karate, marathons, taekwondo and speed skating.
KIAH VP-General Manager Roger Bare said “We’re excited to provide the Houston market with outstanding coverage of year round Olympic style sports competition, in addition to serving Olympics fans, Universal Sports will also be a year-round destination for the elite and everyday athlete.”
