NFL Network Launches A National Initiative on Youth Fitness With ‘Keep Gym in School’

Kim Williams, COO of NFL Network has announced that the network has launched a new initiative “Keep Gym in School.” The new program was launched in support of physical education in schools and raises the awareness on the importance of physical activity. Keep Gym in School will fund select schools to renovate the Physical Education programs and will host NFL minicamps to educate childrens to be more active and improve the fitness level. Excellent performing students will earn a trip to National Honors Event held during the 2009 NFL Draft week.

Cox Communications also joins the initiative with NFL Network and the program will be launched in Fairfax County, Virginia; Wichita, Kansas; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Phoenix, Arizona. Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals are the NFL Teams supporting the program during the first year.

Kim Williams said during the launch “Every student should have the opportunity to participate in quality physical education because it offers the best opportunity to teach skills needed to establish and sustain healthy lifestyles, NFL Network is dedicated to the long-term success of physical education in these four schools, as well as many more as we expand this exciting initiative from year to year.”
